Alchemilla vulgaris is a genus of herbaceous perennial plants in the family Rosaceae.
It has a long history of herbal use mainly as an external treatment for wounds.
The root and leaves of Lady’s Mantle were both harvested in midsummer and traditionally used for poultices for bruises and wound healing.
It has also been traditionally consumed as an antioxidant herbal tea for reducing inflammation and used to help heal skin troubles such as acne.
Recent research has reported Lady’s Mantle’s antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities.
The herb has been demonstrated in scientific research to inhibit intercellular matrix degrading proteases as well as
enhancing epithelial cell growth, both of which are critical for anti-ageing cosmetic products.
