Sapindus mukorossi is a large deciduous tree, native to Asia including India, China and Korea, particularly in warm ad tropical regions. It is commonly called Chinese soapberry, soap nut or soap berry and has been used as a natural washing agent and soap for thousands of years in Asian countries. Soapberries are used as an ingredient in Ayurvedic shampoos and cleansers, and also used as an expectorant, emetic, eczema and psoriasis in other traditional medicine.
